What if your baby needs to see a doctor but you have no insurance and not enough money to pay them today?
honeybear asked:
Ok, it’s a long messed story, but anyway we don’t have insurance right now. They are still trying to process our paper work. We don’t live on a military base or near one. My 10 month old baby’s ear infection is coming back and she needs some medicine. But the doctor’s expect you to pay them today if you don’t have ins. I just don’t have that much money today. What should I do?
We have a medquick center that is open 7 days a week and it’s walk in no app. I will call them when they open this morning and see if I could just pay them a little money today and the rest next week.
Once again we DO NOT live on a military base. I know health care is free there but we are 3 hours away from the nearest one.
I took her to the emergency room this morning. Turns out she has ear infection in both ears and her temp was 103.9!

It’s not possible to make the 3 hour trip?
It just sounds like the easiest option if your child is sick and you don’t have the money for a closer doctor.
Best of luck to you and your baby. Hope things get figured out. It’s always rough to hear about parents in tough situations.
Use an Urgent Care facility or some type of “free” clinic.
Some pharmacies have a quick clinic right inside the store for exactly this type of situation. It’s not free – but it’s much less than a doctor’s visit.
Easy stuff. Call the base where your husband is stationed and get the number to the Tricare Representative. If you have trouble, shoot me an email and I’ll try to get you any information you need. I need to know what state you live in, and where your husband is stationed.
Rest assured, if you are a military spouse, you and your child DO have health care coverage, it’s a matter of rattling the right chains!
If the Tricare rep is not responsive enough, call Army Community Service at his installation, and they will get things rolling. Impress on them the need for help TODAY. Remember they are there to help you.
Do you have your military ID cards? If you do, you should be able to find a Tricare doctor in your area. They will usually take your ID card as your insurance card. They know that Tricare is obligated by law to pay for the services.
Anyway, if you email your husband’s duty station, and your city, I can help, even if I have to go and stand on somebody’s desk to make it happen! I am a leader…and that’s my job!
Do you have a health department nearby they will treat your baby for free. You may have to wait for a while, but it would be worth it. If you don’t, then call and make an appointment with a local physician, and explain the situation when you get there and they can make arrangements for you to pay the bill back in a reasonable time frame. Most of the time they will work with you, just be honest about it. Take care. **I would suggest you ask also for samples of the medication, which may save you paying the pharmacy. Doctors typically have lots of samples from the Pharmaceutical Reps that come by. Just a thought…
You should call your doctor and discuss your situation with him/her. A lot of times there are programs for families without insurance and they will not make you pay right there. You might want to check your state’s health insurance programs to see if you and your little one qualify for any free or discounted benefits.
there should be a clinic where u could pay in payments… you loose nothing by asking…. because an ear infection could bring problems for your baby for example she might go completely deaf in that ear or just deaf… so take her as soon as possible… no matter if u have no money or no plan … theres other payments method… no doctor can refuse service because of money… there has to be a payment method
